An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Chinese export silver presentation cup /goblet made by Wang Hing & Co; an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection.
This exceptional antique Chinese Export silver (CES) goblet has a circular bell shaped form to a knopped stem and circular domed foot.
The large drinking vessel of this Wang Hing silver goblet is embellished with an exceptional chased decorated frieze depicting multiple oriental characters amidst iconic structures, all on a matte terrain style background; this ornamentation reflects the iconic Willow pattern*.
The ornamentation to the body incorporates an impressive shield shaped vacant cartouche to one side.
The circular domed foot is embellishd with a band of chased leaf ornamentation, on a matte background.
This impressive antique goblet retains the original gilded interior.

* This ornamentation is called 'Willow pattern' and is a distinctive chinoiserie pattern commonly used on housewares, typically crafted on ceramics using white and blue. This design became highly popular in the late 18th century and by the early 20th century the fable had influenced an opera and silent film.
